ANNOUNCING THE BOUDOIR-U IN MONTREAL CANADA OCTOBER 23 AND 24, 2012

Night 1: In the evening, just like any other student body, we’ll meet for dinner and drinks while our brains soak up the knowledge.  Every good student knows the best way to wind down after a hard class is with a few cocktails.

Day 2: Bright and early in the morning you’ll hit the labs.  We have the hotel’s top suites rented including the extreme-wow room.  Each has a model and mentor to help you shoot.  In small groups, you’ll get to circle through the hotel rooms and photograph each model.  A portfolio like this could take you months to build on your own.  Here you’re shooting hands on with mentor photographers trying out the methods you learned on the first day.

Night 2: Your final exams.  We’ll meet up in the penthouse.  Each student submits one of their favourite images from that day anonymously.  This is a chance to get an honest critique without the fear of being singled out.  No names are attached, just file numbers.  The teachers will provide any useful advice that they have and a brief opinion.  Each teacher will choose their favourite photograph and the winners get a prize.  More drinks to follow.

Tuition:  $689 until September 25th.  After that it’s $799.  Limited to 35 participants.

Classes:

Style & Inspiration 101:

Developing a unique and consistent style of boudoir photography is what truly differentiates you as a photographer in a growing genre of boudoir and glamour photography.  Your style is defined not only by the things that inspire you, but also how you translate inspiration through posing, lighting and post-production.  We will look at finding inspiration, defining your style and how to communicate your style consistently from the client experience to marketing to the finished product.  Taught by Mélanie Rebane.

Client Psych 101:

The importance of boudoir, psychology behind boudoir and how to make this a life changing event for women right from the initial interaction. Further, preparing a woman/couple for a session, how to help a client feel comfortable quickly and posing techniques to make sure clients receive the best photos possible.  Taught by Ewan and Brianna Phelan

Retouch 101:

I’ll be demonstrating easy and effective retouching techniques to make your clients look naturally perfect. I’ll also share tips on slimming and enhancing in all the right places, as well as a simple way to fix sunburns, tan lines and uneven skin.  Taught by Jennifer Williams

Pricing & Marketing 101:

I will help you define your pricing for sessions, add on services, upgrades and selling techniques. I will also talk about style and brand building to help you make the most money in your market and how to appeal to the right clientele.  Taught by Critsey Rowe.  

Client Prep 101:

While having gorgeous images are the end result, there are numerous steps beforehand to make the experience great for you and your client. I’ll take you into how to prepare your client on their session with detailed FAQ, prep lists, questionnaires, consultations and more. Then we will go behind the scenes into a boudoir shoot to discuss the space itself and making the most of out any size space, interacting with your client and providing your client with a one of a kind experience they won’t forget!  Taught by Leah Aubrey

ANNOUNCING THE NEW YORK CITY BOUDOIR SHOOT OUT HOSTED BY CRITSEY ROWE

On Sunday June 24th, 2012
The Shoot Out will take place at a really amazing studio location in Chelsea that includes several gorgeous settings. We will supply 3-4 models with professional hair and makeup. The studio has high ceilings with northern light and high windows. In addition to shooting natural light we will also do off camera lighting set ups to help give you a big variety for your portfolio.

We will also be hanging out the night before and the night of to talk about the business side of boudoir.

The Shoot Out is for:

Semi to Pro photographers wanting to enhance their boudoir portfolio or even get started in the art of boudoir.
Established boudoir photographers that want to come and play and meet other talented boudoir shooters.

We will be helping with posing and lighting techniques but you are welcome to be creative and do your own thing. Our main objective is to give you the space, the models, the time to shoot to create stunning images you can use on your website and blog.

The cost is $499
We are selling three hour time slots. The time slots are 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm

Images may be used for your online/print portfolios but may not be used to promote your own shootout or workshop. 100% of the shoot out fee is due upon registration and is non refundable. If the shoot out for any reason is cancelled or postponed 100% of your payment will be returned to you.

Boudoir X-posed

Critsey Rowe will teach you how to get started building your portfolio. Other topics include: how to market to your past, present and future clients for boudoir, marketing to clients beyond the wedding market, pricing for boudoir products, what boudoir clients really want, inspiration for posing and lighting techniques, privacy policies, and model releases. Rowe will also discuss how to obtain locations: including what locations work best, how to get a day rate; and also retouching, actions, plug-ins will be discussed.

While shooting – learn how to pose clients, use multiple lighting techniques, how to intereact with your subject for the best results. Instruction will include inspiration, portfolio building, how to market, use of material and resources, learning the business side of things to include privacy policies, model releases for clients, what clients really want in products, how to sell bigger, post pro, plug-ins and retouching and so much more.

You must have an SLR camera to attend – this is a shooting workshop!

We realize some of the photographers wanting to attend already have portfolios so we will be covering something for everyone.
We will have models at the workshop so the attendees can learn to pose and can build portfolio images – they will be able to use those images on their websites, in portfolios or however they wish. Boys and girls are welcome to attend.
