How to Prepare For a Bridal Boudoir Session

Weddings are super exciting but often move so fast. A bridal boudoir session is a chance for you to treat yourself to something nice. By taking these stunning photos, you can live out your own celebrity fantasies and feel confident, sexy, and fun. With the help of a professional boudoir photographer, you can tap into a new part of yourself. Here’s a guide to how to prepare for a bridal boudoir session.

Choose The Right Outfits

In order to feel confident and sexy, you will need to be very comfortable in the clothes you’re wearing. Whether you are doing a more stripped down vibe of wearing bras and panties or dawning a silk robe, you need to feel your best. That’s why we recommend before the shoot, you try on all your outfits to be sure everything fits you well. Anything to tight or to loose leave at home. During the day of the shoot, you should bring some extra outfits just in case you have a change of heart. Most photographers will do a wardrobe consultation with the items you bring.

Pick A Trusted Photographer

You’re going to do something very vulnerable and new. It’s important that the photographer you choose is someone who has a good reputation and is trustworthy. A great boudoir photographer not only knows how to capture the perfect angle, but also how to give you constructive direction and feedback and make you feel at ease. At Couture Boudoir®, we have plenty of experience with boudoir photoshoots. Our services include a prep guide, excellent customer service, pose coaching, wardrobe consultation, hair and makeup styling and a day of fun. We want to put you at ease and walk you through every step of the process. Our albums are custom-made and specifically designed for each new client. We want to help you feel and look your best. But most of all we want you to enjoy the experience.

Accessories and Makeup

In addition to getting the right outfits, you also need to consider which accessories you’d like to include. Do you want to have some jewelry or earrings? Or, do you want to go for a more simple classic look? Some women like to bring their wedding veils. It’s a lovely accessory that’s perfect for commemorating this amazing time of your life. Just make sure it’s dry cleaned and photo ready!

While a lot of women wear high heels for their boudoir shoots, it may not necessarily be your thing and that’s okay! Heels are a great way to make you look a bit taller and add a flair of sexiness to any photoshoot. However, some women find them to be very uncomfortable so it’s perfectly understandable if you don’t want to wear them. If you choose to wear heels, you should bring a few options so you feel as comfortable as possible.

Prepare To Look Your Best

Accessories and the right outfit are definitely important. However, you also need to get prepared for your body to be photographed from multiple angles. Many women have complex relationships with their bodies and as we mentioned, a photographer can help you tap into your more confident self. But there are things you can do to make sure that you feel super comfortable in your own skin. Instead of getting that spray tan, you should prioritize your skin in better, more constructive ways such as moisturizing and staying hydrated. In addition, if you’re dealing with acne you should look into getting prescription acne cream. Are you worried about hair loss? Topical Finasteride & Minoxidil Spray can be what you need. With telemedicine, you can get the medication you need at a rapid pace and get connected with medical professionals who can address your concerns.

The day of your shoot, you shouldn’t wear any tightfitting clothes. Tight clothes can leave marks on your skin that may end up being visible in your photographs — something you should try to avoid.

On top of taking care of your skin, you should take care of any necessary touch-ups. Have you been putting off getting your hair colored or highlighted? Do you want to get a manicure and pedicure? This is your chance to treat yourself. Everyone has their particular routine that makes them feel like their best self. You can even make it a social activity by inviting some of your girlfriends out for a spa day! Get that massage, relax in the sauna, and unwind. With your busy schedule with the wedding, you’ve probably haven’t had a chance to take a breather.

Feel Your Best

For a successful boudoir shoot, you should be in the right state of mind. During the days leading up to the shoot, boost your mood by regularly exercising and eating well. If you are going through a lot of anxiety about the wedding, you should reach out to friends and family who have gone through similar things. They can tell you their own personal tips and experiences and share how they dealt with their own feelings of stress and anxiety. It’s normal to feel a little insecure and have wedding jitters. Tis is why a boudoir shoot can help you de-stress and have something to look forward to.

Drink Water And Have Light Snacks

On the morning of your bridal boudoir session, you should eat something light and stay hydrated. To be in the best mood possible, you should be well-nourished. However, make sure you don’t eat anything too heavy. It can be uncomfortable to be posing for a long time if you’re digesting a large meal. We suggest eating some granola, fruit, and/or a protein bar. In addition, bring some water with you — posing can get exhausting! Right after your boudoir shoot, you can go grab lunch or dinner with friends!

Enjoy The Moment

A Bridal boudoir session is about feeling and looking your best. Don’t forget to enjoy yourself! It’s going to go great!
