I was thrilled this morning to see Good Morning America was doing a segment on Boudoir Photography. Boudoir is not a new trend and has been around for quite some time but it is taking awhile for people to know what the term Boudoir Photography even means. So this is why I was so happy that finally main stream America was hearing about boudoir.
Boudoir—Sounds sexy doesn’t it? That’s because it is. Boudoir comes from the French word “to pout or sulk” and refers to a woman’s dressing room, bedroom, or private sitting room. Today Boudoir Photography means to have a sexy photo session. A great deal of “boudoir” is now created in the photographer’s studio or on location, where it has become very fashionable to create a set of sensual images for ladies of all ages, shapes, and sizes in the “boudoir style”. This often takes the shape of partly clothed images or images in lingerie.
So many women these days are having tasteful sexy images taken and it is quite empowering for them not to mention a wonderful way to capture their beauty. Every woman is beautiful and boudoir is a great way to show this.
Kudos to the GMA team for recognizing that boudoir is modern and tasteful without the stigma of being sexist or exploiting women. Although in the past there were many negative connotations associated with boudoir photography, in recent years the trend has begun to gain momentum, and the entire look of boudoir photography has begun to change. Thank you for spreading the word on what Boudoir really means!
I am internationally known for my beautiful boudoir shooting style. I love the uniqueness of every client and capturing each woman’s own intimate beauty. For me the job is about more than providing high-quality fashion portraits—it is about giving each client a priceless look at how beautiful and sexy they are with images that will last a lifetime. Boudoir images are given for all occasions but mostly they are taken to capture the sexiness of each individual woman.
