As a boudoir photographer, I have the privilege of not only capturing the beauty of my clients but also getting to know them on a deeper level. Many of my clients share their life stories with me, and I’m often left in awe of their resilience and strength.
These stories are not just about their experiences in front of the camera; they are about their journeys as women. They are about the challenges they have faced, the obstacles they have overcome, and the growth they have experienced.
As women, we can learn so much from each other’s stories. We can find inspiration, hope, and empowerment in the experiences of others. That’s why I believe it’s important to share these stories, to amplify the voices of women who have faced incredible challenges and come out the other side stronger and more confident.
In the coming months, I will be sharing some of the most inspiring stories from my clients. These women have faced a wide range of challenges, from body image issues and self-doubt to abusive relationships and traumatic experiences. But despite all of this, they have found the courage to embrace their beauty and celebrate their bodies.
My hope is that these stories will inspire other women to do the same, embrace their unique beauty, and recognize their own strength and resilience. I believe that every woman deserves to feel confident and empowered, and I hope that through these stories, we can inspire each other to do just that.
Was there anything holding you back from booking a boudoir session?
First it was the investment and then after booking it was my confidence. At that point, I was really unhappy with my body, so it would be a vulnerable experience for me.
What made you decide to book a boudoir session?
My husband always says he loves my body and I wanted to do something special for his 40th birthday.
What made your decision to book Couture Boudoir specifically?
I kind of just pushed aside my insecurities and told myself it would be a fun and new experience.
What were you most nervous about before your boudoir session?
Being confident enough to pose in lingerie. I did cry a couple of times at the thought of being in lingerie in front of a photographer.
Describe how you felt during your session?
When I got there and I met Critsey and the make up artist, they both were so kind and reassuring. I instantly felt safe and judgement free. The makeup and hair was great to get into a mindset away from the everyday grind of being a mother and wife. I felt more like myself before kids. It helped me feel confident in my body, which in turn gave me the courage to let go of my insecurities to pose for my husband.
How did you feel about yourself after seeing your boudoir photos?
I felt insecure and embarrassed at first, but seeing my husband’s reaction, I started looking at it in a different light. I felt excited and happy that I did it. My body is beautiful and it’s something I need to take time to see. The whole experience and pictures exceeded my expectations.
Describe your overall experience with Couture Boudoir…
It was such a liberating experience. I wish I had done it sooner and not be so hard on my body and mind. Critsey is an amazing photographer and really captures the best parts of you and highlighting subtly the sensual parts of intimacy. I felt sexy and confident afterwards. It was really an eye opening experience for myself and my husband.
What would you tell other women hesitant in booking a boudoir session?
Definitely do it. A woman should do it for herself once in her lifetime. Something to look back on and treasure.
Is there anything you wish you would have known before your photoshoot?
I really was nervous beforehand but honestly you don’t know what you don’t know. It something you have to experience for yourself and Critsey gives so much guidance beforehand that everything will be ok. I was able to put together everything from her list and was prepared.
Anything else you would like to add?
Your body is one of a kind, it is beautiful no matter what you see yourself. I’m plus size and not what you would say is a standard beauty but at that moment I felt beautiful. I really appreciated everything and Critsey did an amazing job taking the pictures and editing them. My husband is beyond words when he looks through his book.
