Your Rockstar Session is all about creating photographs that feel like you, turned all the way up. Think fashion editorial, magazine cover, movie star energy, and a little bit of attitude.
There is only one rule about what you should wear:
Wear what makes you feel incredible!!
Whether that’s a glamorous gown, a killer suit, leather pants, denim, something sparkly, something edgy, or something completely unexpected, this is your opportunity to step outside your everyday wardrobe and create something unforgettable.
And don’t worry about knowing how to pose. I will direct you through everything.
A FEW DAYS BEFORE
HYDRATE + REST
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session and try to get a good night’s sleep before your shoot.
You don’t need to diet, drastically change your routine, or do anything extreme. This isn’t about changing your body. It’s about celebrating the woman who is already there.
SKIN
Keep your skincare routine simple and familiar. Moisturized skin photographs beautifully, but this is not the time to experiment with a new facial, peel, product, or treatment that could leave your skin irritated. If you wax, shave, or have your brows done, give your skin a few days to calm down before your session.
HAIR
If you’re coloring, cutting, or making a major change to your hair, do it several days before your session rather than right before it. If you’re having professional hair and makeup, come with clean, dry hair and a clean face. Bring inspiration photos if you have a particular hairstyle or makeup look you love.
YOUR ROCKSTAR WARDROBE
This is the fun part.
You can wear anything you feel beautiful in.
Don’t think about what you normally wear. Think about what you would wear if you were walking into your own magazine cover shoot.
Some ideas:
- A show-stopping gown (Rent The Run Way is a great option)
- A beautifully tailored suit
- Leather or faux leather
- A fabulous dress (think Black Tie or Red Carpet event)
- Jeans and a statement top
- Sequins or metallics
- A dramatic coat
- Corsetry or fashion-forward pieces
- Something vintage
- Something completely unexpected
You don’t have to stick to one style. We can create different personalities with each look.
CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITES
Bring the pieces that make you stand in front of the mirror and think:
“Damn. I look good.”
That’s the outfit.
Fit is important. Clothing that fits beautifully and allows you to move will photograph much better than something you’re constantly adjusting.
Try everything on before your session and make sure you love how you look and feel in it.
THINK HEAD TO TOE
An outfit isn’t finished without the details. Bring the shoes, jewelry, handbag, sunglasses, jacket, belt, gloves, or other accessories that complete the look. Accessories can completely transform an image and give us more ways to create variety.
STEAM EVERYTHING
Wrinkles show up in photographs. Please steam or press your clothing before you arrive. Keep outfits on hangers whenever possible so they stay camera-ready.
NAILS + HANDS
Your hands will likely make an appearance in your photographs, so make sure your nails are clean and camera-ready. If you love having your nails done, fresh polish is always beautiful. Neutrals, classic French, soft pinks, reds, or whatever makes you feel fabulous are all great choices.
MAKEUP
Think polished, glamorous, and still you.
You have professional hair and makeup included with your Rockstar Session, your artist will work with you to create a look that complements your features and wardrobe.
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring:
- Your favorite outfit(s)
- Shoes for each look
- Jewelry and accessories
- Undergarments appropriate for each outfit
- A lint roller if you have one
- Makeup for touch-ups
- Any special pieces you want photographed
When in doubt, bring it.
We can always decide together what works best once I see everything.
THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION
Eat something before you arrive.
You don’t want to be distracted by hunger while we’re creating magic.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Arrive with clean, dry hair and a clean face for professional hair and makeup.
Wear something loose and comfortable to your appointment to avoid clothing marks on your skin.
Most importantly:
Don’t rush.
Give yourself enough time to arrive feeling relaxed, excited, and ready to have fun.
AND THEN… WE PLAY.
You do not need to know how to pose.
You do not need to know what to do with your hands.
You do not need to be a model.
That’s my job.
I will direct you through posing, movement, expressions, and every little detail so you never have to wonder what to do next.
Some poses will feel completely natural.
Some might feel a little ridiculous.
And then you’ll see the photograph and understand exactly why we did it.

Be open to trying something different.
Wear something that makes you feel amazing.
And give yourself permission to be seen.
This isn’t about becoming someone else.
