Hey Beautiful,
One of the questions I get asked all the time is where I find all of those gorgeous, unique locations for my boudoir sessions. While I absolutely love photographing women in luxury hotels, beautiful Airbnbs, and even in the comfort of their own homes, there is one place here in Charlotte that always feels a little magical to me: The Little House.
If you’ve ever seen photos from one of my sessions there, you already know it is not your typical photo studio. In fact, that’s exactly why I love it so much. See more HERE.
Most photography studios are designed to be blank spaces. They often have plain walls, seamless backdrops, and a few pieces of furniture that can be moved around. There is nothing wrong with that, and many photographers create beautiful work in those environments. However, for the romantic and editorial style that I love to create, I am always drawn to spaces that tell a story.
The Little House feels like walking into several stories at once.

Every Room Has Its Own Personality
One of the things that makes The Little House so special is that every room feels completely different from the next. Instead of having one look throughout the space, it offers a variety of beautifully designed environments that each create their own mood.
You might start in a bright, airy room filled with lace and soft natural light. Then a few minutes later, we can move into a dramatic space with dark walls, rich textures, and a completely different energy.
As a photographer, that variety is incredibly exciting. More importantly, it gives my clients options. Some women love soft, romantic imagery that feels delicate and feminine. Others want something bold, confident, and a little mysterious. Many women discover they want both.
Because there are so many unique spaces within The Little House, we can create an entire gallery that feels diverse and dynamic without ever leaving the building.

It Feels More Like a Home Than a Studio
There is something comforting about walking into a space that feels lived in.
When clients arrive for a boudoir session, they are often nervous. That is completely normal. Even women who are incredibly confident usually tell me they have butterflies before their shoot. A traditional studio can sometimes feel intimidating. Bright lights, equipment everywhere, and unfamiliar surroundings can make those nerves even stronger. The Little House has a completely different vibe.
Instead, it feels warm, welcoming, and inviting. The rooms feel cozy and thoughtfully curated. As a result, clients tend to relax much faster. Once they settle into the space, they stop worrying about being photographed and start enjoying the experience.
That comfort shows up in the final images every single time.

The Natural Light Is Incredible
If you know anything about my photography style, you know how much I adore beautiful natural light as well as dark and moody. Variety is my most valuable tool.
Light has the power to completely transform an image. It can create softness, romance, drama, intimacy, and emotion. Therefore, finding locations with exceptional light is always a priority for me.
The Little House offers some truly gorgeous natural light throughout many of its spaces. Depending on the room and the time of day, we can create images that feel bright and dreamy or rich and moody.
Because the light is constantly changing throughout the day, no two sessions ever feel exactly alike. That allows me to create images that feel unique to each woman who steps in front of my camera.

It Encourages Creativity
After photographing women for many years, I can tell you that inspiration matters. Whenever I walk into The Little House, ideas immediately start flowing. The textures, colors, furniture, and details all spark creativity. Before I even pull out my camera, I am already imagining poses, compositions, and ways to tell my client’s story.
Meanwhile, my clients often feel inspired as well. A vintage chair might encourage a more elegant pose. A beautiful window may create the perfect moment for a quiet, reflective image. A luxurious sofa can instantly make someone feel glamorous and confident. The environment becomes part of the experience rather than simply serving as a backdrop.

It Matches My Editorial Style
Many women come to Couture Boudoir® because they love the romantic, magazine-inspired look of my work. I want every session to feel elevated, timeless, and intentional. Rather than creating photos that look trendy for a moment, I strive to create images that my clients will still love years from now.
The Little House’s thoughtfully designed spaces add depth and character to the photographs without overwhelming the subject. While the rooms are beautiful, they never distract from the woman being photographed. Instead, they complement her and help tell her story. That balance is something I truly appreciate.

The Experience Feels Special
A boudoir session is about so much more than taking pictures.
For many women, it marks a milestone. Some are celebrating a wedding, anniversary, birthday, or personal achievement. Others are reconnecting with themselves after a difficult season in life. Because of that, I believe the experience should feel memorable from beginning to end. The Little House helps create that feeling. From the moment you walk through the door, it feels like you’ve stepped into a space designed for creativity, beauty, and self-expression.
Many clients tell me afterward that they felt like they were starring in their own magazine shoot. Hearing that always makes me smile because that is exactly how I want every woman to feel.

Why I Keep Coming Back
Charlotte has no shortage of places to photograph. Nevertheless, there are only a handful of locations that consistently inspire me the way The Little House does. It offers variety, comfort, character, and beautiful light. More importantly, it creates an environment where women can relax, have fun, and see themselves in a new way. Every time I photograph a client there, I discover something different. A new angle catches my eye. The light falls a little differently. A room inspires a fresh idea.
That sense of possibility keeps the experience exciting for both me and my clients.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a boudoir session and have wondered where your photos might take place, The Little House is one of my favorite answers. It is charming, creative, and unlike any traditional studio you’ve probably ever visited.
Most importantly, it provides the perfect setting for you to step outside your comfort zone, embrace your beauty, and create images that remind you just how incredible you truly are.
xo,
Critsey
